ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Havanese is certainly a descendant of Old World Bichon-type dogs, but certain types remains a speculation. Cuban believes the dog originally came to their island with Italian sea captain, leading to Malta or Bologna as the source. Others claim that arrived with the Spaniards when they colonized the West Indies, which shows the Bichon Frise as Tenerife or the original ancestor.
