The key to training your dog to eliminate outside (where you want) is to prevent accidents, and to reward success. Control adult dogs have better bladder and bowel, and can" hold" for a period greater than puppies. The golden rule with puppies is to take your age in months, add one, and it is the number of hours a puppy can" hold" during the day.. (ie a four -month old puppy, you can be expected to be clean until five o'clock in during the day).
Here are some simple steps to help you and your dog find success!
Feeding your dog on a schedule (to be removed at one time, too).
Keep your diet simple and consistent ( to avoid food scraps and canned food, dry bucket high quality produce less waste).
Select an area, about ten feet square, outside where you want your dog to go to the bathroom.
Take your dog on leash area, rate of return (movement promotes movement) and sang an uplifting phrase ("you do business, you do business").
Do this for no more than three minutes :
if removed, provide a large amount of praise and play.
if not eliminate, store it in a letter, back inside, keep the dog on a leash with you or locked in a box.
Try again in an hour; eventually your dog will eliminate appropriately and
You can provide a large amount of praise and play.
After each success, allow 15 minutes of freedom at home, before putting your dog in front of or behind the back in the box.
After three consecutive days of success, increase freedom by 15 minutes.
If there is an accident; reduction in freedom for 15 minutes for three days.
