Tribes used dogs for herding deer called bjelkiers, sled pull, and sometimes the bear hunt. These dogs are friendly and helpful treated as family members, living with them in their original homes. European polar explorers discovered the dogs in the mid-1800s. Dog set on the expedition to the Arctic and Antarctic and bring something home with them, especially to England. In 1889, British zoologist Ernest Kilburn-Scott spent several months living with Samoyede people.
